Letters are from R.R. Munro, a cousin of Alexander Bain's. Letter of January 31, 1870 from Silver Peak, Nevada concerns Munro's business misfortunes in San Francisco, Calif. and White Pine, Nev.; his silver mine at White Pine and the economic collapse and living conditions there; a description of Silver Peak; and various relatives. Letter of November 29, 1874 written from Salt Lake City, Utah describes the city and his opinion of Brigham Young, the Mormons, and their religion. He also noted various relatives in America, Scotland, and New Zealand.
